Head of school's message

This last year has been one of massive change for Bath School of Art & Design. The exciting building works at Sion Hill will improve the facilities for art and design students to develop. In addition to more studio spaces we have improved workshop facilities: we have improved the woodwork area and have developed a facility for rapid prototyping of three dimensional objects. This latter facility provides students with access to the latest in computer aided prototyping.

In addition to all this building work, I am very proud to be the new Head of the School. Bath School of Art & Design has a long and creative history and we aim to develop on the quality of past work by investing in our future. We
are developing a suite of degrees at all levels, that in conjunction with this excellent facility, located in this beautiful City, will allow all students to explore and develop their creative talents.

We understand that creativity and learning is more than access to technology and so we have worked on developing School of Art & Design not only as a 'do-space' but also as a 'think-space'. The library has been re-equipped and a new café and social learning space for use by students and staff has been designed to be at the core of our activities. The new gallery continues the display culture which is an essential part of art and design culture.

In a spirit of constant innovation, we want to provide students with the best platform from which to launch their creative lives.

But for the moment, I would like to say 'Hello' and welcome you to the School

Pradeep Sharma - Head of the School of Art and Design.
