Overview

Research is an activity that is valued at the Bath School of Art and Design for its contribution to the development of knowledge and understandings in the School, the region and to art and design communities internationally.

Research in the School emerges from the professional enthusiasms of individuals, but the investigations of staff and doctoral students reflect particular themes and philosophies.

Core principles:
  • The application of research to practice that embraces a variety of methods, products and outcomes.
  • A desire to disseminate processes and outcomes to professional and academic audiences and to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • The harnessing of cultural, historical and philosophical theory to enable reflection of practice.
