Foundation degree Applied Art and Design
Overview
This employment related, degree level qualification will give you the professional and specialist skills, technical knowledge and academic rigour demanded by the workplace in today's society.
It is ideal if you wish to undertake a multidisciplinary art and design course that is both intensive and practical. You will experience a variety of specialisms within Applied Arts and Design, exploring and developing your work through:
- Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics and Surface Manipulation
- Workshops in Printmaking, Photography and Computing
- Professional Practice and Workbased Learning
- Contextual Studies
Throughout the course a strong emphasis will be placed on the applied nature of the subject. Some parts of the learning therefore, will take place outside the College in studios, galleries and art related businesses. During the first part of the course, you will develop both 2D and 3D studies underpinned by drawing, research and a range of workshops. In the second stage,you will continue to build upon the skills you have acquired,allowing you to establish a specialist practice.
