Museums & Galleries
Bath has a rich array of museums and galleries, from the famous Roman Baths to the museum of East Asian Art. Regular art exhibitions are featured in some of the Contrmporary art galleries in town as well as the Holburne Museum of Art which houses a fine collection of 17th and 18th century art including the likes of Gainsborough.
Hotbath Gallery - Hot Bath Street
Opened in 1994 it is part of the City of Bath College and as a result displays a range of works from the students there.
Victoria Art Gallery - Bridge Street
The gallery is housed in the Guildhall and boasts work by Gainsborough, Sickert, Turner, Farrington and Barker, as well as hosting regular temporary exhibitions throughout the year. The modern gallery on the ground floor has ever changing, high profile exhibitions featuring various mediums including applied arts, photography and local works.
Holburne Museum of Art - Great Pultney Street
The Holburne Museum rose in 1916 from the 18th century building formerly known as the Sydney Hotel, the heart of the Sydney Pleasure Gardens that were visited by Jane Austin who lived in nearby Sydney Place.
Beaux Arts - 12/13 York Street
Beaux Arts is a commercial gallery and is the sister gallery to Beaux Arts in Cork Street, London. The gallery specialises in the work of major twentieth century painters, sculptors and studio ceramicists.
Adam Gallery - 13 John Street
Specialises in Contemporary and Twentieth Century British and International Works, especially St Ives painters.
Six Chapel Row - Queens Square
This is one of the leading contemporary art galleries in Bath and the South West of England, holding over 10 exhibitions a year and showing all types of contempory art.
