Bath

Entertainment

Bath has a wide range of pubs, from real ale, old men and dog pubs to smart dress only and cocktail bars. Here is a brief review of a handful.

The Bell. Walcot Street

The root of bohemia is found at The Bell. A friendly pub with great ales and regular live music during the week and on Sunday afternoons. It can be a very busy at any time of day but there's plenty of room to spread out. It's spacious and open with a quiet side bar for bar billiards.

Central Wine Bar - Upper Borough Walls

The staff are efficient and friendly. The bar serves a huge selection of bottled and draught beer. The wine list is well chosen. The spirits are served in 40% bigger measures. The dÈcor is cool yet understated. It can't be improved. To improve on perfection would be impossible, we thought. But we were wrong. They have gone and added a separate cocktail bar upstairs.

Delfter Krug. Sawclose

Delfter Krug is a fashionable enough place, with a split personality. The lower floor is the laid-back half. There's an impressive back bar, a huge alluring sofa, a big personality and a mellow atmosphere - don't even think about stressing. Meanwhile upstairs is the hyperactive half. There's a dance floor which runs themed nights like the popular R n B club on a Tuesday.

Moles Club. George Street

Moles Club is one of the UK's best live music venues. This is the place for live bands, live gigs, dance music, and everything to do with the local live music and partying scene - a nightclub with a difference - but also one of those great intimate cellar venues!
